Here goes nothing.....

I am a middle school teacher! What??? Yes a middle school teacher! What did I do?  I have taught mathematics at the high school level for the last 19 years and this summer I was offered a job to teach middle school math closer to home.  I jumped at it!!

I have spent the last 10 days filling out paperwork, getting insurance transfered, changing payment information for retirement accounts, and moving an 18 year classroom.  Crazy times!

The room is ready, well as ready as it is going to be!  And now I sit pondering my decision...what to expect when the kiddos show up in two days!  I have no doubts as to my ability to teach mathematics.  I'm good at that.  I am apprehensive about what is going to happen outside my four walls.  New rules, new co-workers, new procedures.  For example, I have to walk them to lunch and extra classes.  That's new.  At the high school, bell rings, they go!  No bathroom passes! What? Dismissal procedures, walk them to their bus!  

I have an amazing team and I know they will be patient with me.  It will all work out and be amazing!
